Above, the Solar Kettle is light and ready to help you melt snow and
pasteurize it for drinking water. Use it anywhere there's sunshine.

Using only sunshine, you can heat 16 ounces of liquid in minutes
while remaining safe to touch. The Solar Kettle includes a vacuum
tube, two parabolic reflectors that hinge to protect the tube in
transport. This also doubles as a sturdy carrying case and stand.
Use the Solar Kettle in any temperature -- in snow or winds as
long as there is direct sunlight.

Be sure to keep your solar panels in good working order!
Keep your solar panels clean to get maximum energy from them.
Maintaining a clean surface on your solar panels is essential for
optimum energy efficiency. Depending upon the local climate and
other conditions solar panels can lose as much as 30 percent
energy efficiency when they are not clean.

Happy endings...
Indeed the power of the sun is amazing and preppers can harness
everything they need to live off the grid in comfort including a
solar refrigerator, solar lighter and fire starter, plus solar
batteries and more. Now that you are illuminated, you can live
happily ever after in an off grid world.

Solar power will be an essential component in an off-grid world
for refrigeration, water purification and pumping, and food
production and procurement.

#6. Solar Generators.
The huge benefit of a solar generator is that it's silent and safe
with no noise or fumes! A noisy generator would otherwise attract
too much attention of human predators in an extreme situation.

  • The Portable Solar Generator Kit, pictured right, is a small,
quiet generator for home use. It includes power battery
bank, solar power panel, LED lights, and multi function USB
cable. It can be charged by solar power energy, or by AC
electric. One power cable is attached for AC charging. The
power battery bank is also a charger to mobile phone and
power source to LED lights. LED bar indicator is used to show
charging progress. This kit is also a solar inverter generator.
This portable solar generator system is widely applied to
camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, expedition, outdoor
activities, and home emergency power supply.

#8: Solar Shower.
Something as simple as a hot shower can be a real morale
booster in uncertain times.  You can use it to wash dishes, to
shower and to wash hands. With pockets for soap and shampoo,
and a wide handle grip for comfortable transport, you'll enjoy
having the peace of mind in knowing if life ever goes off the grid,
at least you'll have a hot shower. It heats up in direct sunlight,
and you can also pour your own warm water into the reserves. It
sells quickly, click the picture or the link for different sellers.

You'll be happy with this one. The durable, four-layer construction
includes a reflector panel, an insulator panel, a solar panel, and a
water reservoir along with diamond rip-stop fabric and a water
temperature gauge. The shower head is simple to operate and
can be turned on and off to save water. The extra-large filling
valve features a twist-off cap, and the wide, rubber handle make
the shower easy to carry. A pocket holds your soap, shampoo,
and other items. When you're done with the shower, simple roll it
up for storage. The shower has a capacity of 3 gallons and weighs
12 ounces when empty.

#9: Solar Clocks and Watches.
Solar timekeeping devices have come a long way since the
sundial:

  • An alarmingly clever solar alarm clock. Technically, this
solar alarm clock is a hybrid -- operated by solar/battery
power, so if your bedroom has lots of daylight, then you'll
want the solar alarm clock. It will extend your battery life
more than two years. It features a solar panel on top, and
has silver case with green back light dial. It requires 2 AA
    batteries (not included).

  • A solar watch you say? It's not a sundial, but you're in for a
treat knowing that you'll never need to replace batteries.
The solar watch, right, doesn't need batteries! It has Kinetic
Direct Drive – just move, and you power the watch
automatically. Or hand wind it and see the power you are
    generating in real time.

#10: Hybrid solar powered flashlight!
The amazing hybrid solar-powered flashlights, pictured right,
doesn't need to be left in the sun to charge. Once charged you
can store it anywhere and it will hold a full charge for more than
three years! And This hybrid solar light is environmentally
friendly, durable, guaranteed for life, and always ready with 16
hours of run time. You get two for the price of what you'd expect
to pay for just one!

#11: Solar communications.
Staying in communications with your family or group is critical in
an emergency. The
ER Solar Hand-Crank Radio with Powered LED
Flashlight, pictured right in blue is a Digital Weather Band Radio
and USB Charging Port with a built in cell phone charger to power
communication with loved ones during an emergency. This AM/FM
Radio with Weather Band never needs batteries and charges all
your mobile devices!

The solar-powered panel lets you charge the internal battery by
placing in direct light for unlimited usage. Best  of all, it features
convenience of solar with hand crank option as a backup to
charge your cell phone and to get vital communications.

#12: Little Sun - the happy solar light.
The little sun solar lantern, pictured right, was developed as a
'socially conscious' lamp with proceeds from each sale
contributing to getting clean, reliable and affordable light to
people living in areas of the world with no electricity.
It's the perfect, happy little light for your kids. They can wear it
around their neck while camping or use it as reading light.

Extremely durable, you can affix this happy solar light to a
backpack, tree or use it for ambiance as an attractive table light.
The kids will enjoy this little lamp as much as the adults.

The collaborative effort of artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer
Frederik Ottesen of Denmark, this little powerhouse features the
world's most efficient solar cell, produced by SunPower, industry
leaders in solar manufacturing.

#13: Handcrank, USB and Solar Lantern.
There are three ways to

Light up the night with
Goal Zero's Lighthouse 250. Light up any
situation with 250 lumens of bright, LED light that you can also
dim. It has a directional lighting feature to save on power for
extended runtime. Best of all the Lighthouse 250 recharges
quickly from USB, solar or the included hand crank, and has a
built-in USB port to power small hand held devices to keep you
connected to the ones who matter most.

  1. Solar: The Lighthouse 250 can be charged by connecting a
compatible solar panel. (The Nomad 7 Solar Panel can charge
the Lighthouse 250 in about 7-14 hours.)
  2. USB: The Lighthouse 250 Lantern can also be charged by
being plugged into a USB power source.
  3. Hand Crank: When you are really in a pinch, use the hand
crank to get 10 minutes of light for every 1 minute of
    cranking.

#14: Solar products for cooking.
A solar oven (also sometimes called solar cooker) is made with
aluminum reflectors to bake foods using the sun's energy. Used
to either heat food or sterilize water, this outdoor cooking
method concentrates sunlight thereby converting light to heat,
and trapping heat. The joys of solar cooking are immeasurable.
Kids will be in awe of home baked bread or a cake cooking slowly
in the sun. Boy Scout and Girl Scout leaders can have a fun time
with their troops, and preppers can have bonding time with their
family trying out solar ovens. Here are some varieties to consider:

  • Solar Hybrid Cooking Oven. The solar box cooker, pictured
in red, lower right, allows four different pans to cook
simultaneously. The kit includes the quality stainless steel
pans. It's easy to carry, focuses the sun well and cooks
cakes evenly. The electric backup is perfect to preheat or
    boost heat if necessary.

  • Solar Box Oven. If you're looking for a quality and yet
inexpensive solar cooker, try the highly rated and affordable
Global Sun Oven solar cooker, pictured below left. Pair it
with the Solar Cooking cookbook or Cooking with Sunshine
and you'll be harnessing the power of the sun in off-grid
    style.

  • Solar Combo Oven Complete kit: oven, 2 pots,
thermometer, manual, recipe booklet, WAPI (water
    pasteurization indicator) and solar reflector.

  • Sunflair Portable solar oven. The most versatile solar oven
on the market. With a Sunflair Solar Oven you can bake
cookies or pizza, or dry fruits and herbs. Can accommodate a
wide variety of cookware. No assembly required, it's easy to
use. Sets up and stores in seconds.

#7: Solar Air Lantern.
Meet Luci, the solar air lantern is emergency lighting that doesn't
need batteries or fuel; and there's no need to plug it for power.
The Luci Solar Air lantern, pictured immediate left needs only the
sun! It's not just a solar lantern either. Best of all, the solar air
lantern folds flat!
  • Goal Zero Yeti 1250 Solar Generator Kit: Whether you are
working and recreating off-grid or experiencing a power

offers the power to get it done. It's silent, safe, and easy to
use, indoors or out. The Yeti 1250 provides clean, self-
sustaining power generation from sun, wall, or car.

#3: Solar powered backpack.
Does a backpack really need solar power? Don't turn your back on
a
solar backpack! We take that back: be actively energy efficient
with a backpack that enables you to enjoy nature and preserve it
simultaneously! Crafted to withstand adventure, the solar power
backpack, pictured both left and right, is more than a solar
battery charger. It is also a bladder backpack, with a 1.8L
hydration pack and has a plethora of pockets and compartments.
Think of a solar backpack for a get home bag if your walk home
from work would take you under eight hours.

Portability is key, particularly for a bugout scenario or for a
low-cost solution to start out in solar to recharge anything
anywhere! Take the solar backpack, for example,  pictured right,
which would be ideal for an urban
get home bag. Stash it with
your communications equipment, so you can communicate your
progress home and plan your strategy. You could also include
bivvy, defense and a survival knife, a Lifestraw (brand of water
straw), food, and other basic supplies to get you home to your
loved ones.

#4: Solar refrigerator.
It seems impossible, but a solar refrigerator exists and this is a
godsend to diabetics.A solar refrigerator for them is a lifesaver
because insulin must be kept refrigerated.

The
Cowin Solar Powered Fridge, pictured right, saves you money!
First, the power from the solar panel is free since it is not coming
from the grid, and second, this fridge is energy efficient so when
AC power needs to be used from the grid, it uses minimal energy
to power the fridge.

Lighting up the night can restore the human spirit in a disaster
situation, but for a diabetic, the power of a solar refrigerator can
literally light up their life!

#5: Solar freezer.
It's cool to discover a solar freezer even more amazing that you
can own a full-blown solar freezer! Sunstar pioneered the largest
market sized DC powered chest freezer, pictured below left. You
can go off-grid, instead of paying for electric bills. Use this
freezer anywhere it may be costly or not feasible to pull electric
lines replacing gas powered units.
