Happy endings...
The best gun oil is the one you use. A clean gun is the one that
will fire properly and why it's important to use gun oil regularly.
Admittedly, it's also a chore that's fun because it reminds you of
your most important preps.

The Best Gun Oils for Preppers
#7: Kroil.
Kroil is the oil that creeps and loosens frozen metal parts. That's
their tagline and it says it all. The classic oil, and highly rated on
Amazon, it's an oil for cleaning rifles and guns, but all for
lubricating any driven tool, for removing rust, gummed oil and
grease and for loosening nuts, bolts, studs, screws, pulleys,
shafts, bearings, pipe threads, valve guides or any corroded metal
parts. It's terrific for old guns.

A scientific principle reduces the surface tension so that this
amazing solvent creeps into openings as small as one millionth of
an inch. Kroil loosens frozen metal joints in minutes. Dissolves
gum, dried grease, and oil -~ without attacking the metal.
Displaces water, provides lubrication and prevents rust.

#8: LPS-2 and LPS-3
Another good gun oil lubricant is LPS-2 and LPS-3.. Mechanics of
aircrafts rely on LPS, which is why t
his brand of heavy duty
caught on with gun owners!

  • LPS-2 is a heavy duty lubricant that's great for cleaning,
lubricating and it's tacky enough to be used as a lubricant
and if it dries out it won't leave a film on the gun.

  • LPS-3 Premier Rust Inhibitor is a specially formulated long-
term corrosion inhibitor protecting metal parts in inside
storage for up to two years. It's great for long term storage,
but the thing you need to remember is that you need to
remove the waxy film when you're ready to use your gun. It's
nothing that a little WD-40 couldn't handle, but still it's
something to remember. You won't be able to reach for your
firearm in an emergency, so think of LPS-3 for your displays.
When applied it forms a soft, transparent, waxy film sealing
out moisture, air, acid, alkali fumes, and other corrosive
elements. It gets a rating of only 4 stars out of 5. With so
many other gun oils out there it has a place, but it's not on
the top of the list, but it's ideal for marine use or anywhere
around salt water. Good if you're storing your guns. For your
other uses, if rust is a big deal in your area, then rest
assured that LPS-3 does a good job protecting stainless

#9: Strike-Hold.
Strike-Hold comes in a trigger spray bottle and offers good
cleaning and corrosion resistance and is geared for a true
gunsmith. It doesn't leave a greasy slimy mess, but it's still there.

Non-flammable, Strike-Hold cleans rust, corrosion, and carbon.
Very high dielectric strength, which means it can withstand under
without breaking down. Strikde-hold reduces friction and protects
against moisture and dry lubricates metal parts without gummy
build up. Strikehold works like a WD-40.

Strike-Hold is a fast-acting, penetrating compound that cuts
through dirt, rust and corrosion, quickly getting into metal parts
that have become frozen or encrusted. It provides a long-lasting
dry lubricant, which reduces friction. It helps dry out wet electrical
gears and other water sensitive parts, and will actually improve
electrical performance by cleaning and protecting contacts and
internal parts, including circuitry and connections. Strike-Hold®
protects by providing a shield-like film against the effects of
moisture and corrosion, even against salt water, while repelling
sand, dirt and dust.

Gun oils for preppers:
The main reason we use gun oil is for corrosion resistance. Not
only is gun oil helpful to resist humidity, but gun oil is also
effective at removing the moisture, dirt and oils that get there
from your hands. Gun oil is a lubricant also ensuring that the
parts of the gun that move and grind also don't get worn out.

To sum it all up, you need gun oil to prevent rust and lube
moving parts and get the most from your gun.
Here's a simple list of the
best gun oils and lubes.

Best Gun Oils for Preppers
What are the best gun oils for preppers? It depends on who you
ask. It also depends on what you need. Some gun oils and
lubricants are better around salty air (Break-free CLP), others are
better for long-term gun storage or better for your other needs.
The best gun oil for some are the ones that more non-toxic or eco-
friendly (Ballistol). Below is a review of the best gun oils for

Best gun oils for preppers:

#1: Ballistol multi-purpose lubricant and cleaner.
Ballistol is a classic gun oil for preppers that has been around
since World War I ~ it was developed for the German Army who
requested an oil that would lubricate, clean, protect and preserve
firearms and gun stocks as well as preserve leather gear.
Unmatched for cleaning firearms, Ballistol minimizes the need for
brushing and scraping barrels and chambers. Ballistol is slightly
alkaline in nature; meaning that it neutralizes the effect of sweat
and skin oils. It's great for wood and metal. It emulsifies in water.

It's perfectly safe for the environment. Ballistol is a multi-purpose
aerosol can lubricant cleaner
developed for gun cleaning!

#2: Break Free CLP.
Break Free CLP is the good stuff issued by the U.S. Military and a
top gun oil for preppers in terms of popularity and ratings. It gets
4.8 of 5 Stars on Amazon and temporarily goes out of stock but
no worries because when you order it you'll get it on the next

If you've been in the military, you know Break Free CLP. It's great
for a machine gun. Break Free CLP is a cleaner, lubricant and
preservative. Break Free CLP penetrates and spreads along metal
surfaces into every pit and crevice to undercut contamination and
lift residue away where it can be removed. Long-lasting
lubricating film dramatically reduces adhesion of sand, grit or
other abrasives which cause wear and failure.

Corrosion inhibitors prevent the formation of rust while Break-
Free's unique boundary film protects metal surfaces from moisture
and other contaminants. Whats more, it's specially formulated
synthetic oils won't lose viscosity, dry out or stiffen up in extreme
environments ~ such as cold, heat, dust, dirt, humidity and even
salt air.

#3: Eezox Premium Gun Care.
Eezox Premium Gun Care is expensive, but it's worth every penny.
Ask the allied veterans of Desert Storm. Under the most adverse
conditions imaginable, Eezox proved itself to the Allied Forces
involved with "Operation Desert Storm" in the Gulf War.

Totally effective from 450F to -95F. Synthetic Eezox Premium Gun
Care has three major synthetic components that make your gun
maintenance fast, simple, and efficient. As the solvent portion
evaporates, a thin, strong molecular structure of Eezox lubricant
remains on metal surfaces. This protective dry coating remains on
the firearm while in use or in storage at all times.

If you have a badly rusted my muzzleloader, this is the gun care
for you. The chemical make-up of Eezox functions as a solvent,
lubricant, and rust preventative, meaning that you only need
Eezox and nothing else. No other solvents to clean any part of
your weapon, no other lubricants for the moving parts, and no
other rust protectors for the metal surfaces.

#4 FrogLube gun cleaner.
What's the best gun cleaning kit? To some preppers, it' the one
that's not toxic! If you're cleaning your guns inside then you may
be especially concerned about getting a non-toxic gun cleaner.
FrogLube gun cleaner is non-toxic, non-flammable and non-
hazardous gun cleaner that's actually made of food-grade

With a pleasant mint smell, FrogLube is biodegradable, will not
harm the environment. It's safe, effective and even USDA
approved as the bio-preferred product, making it among the best
of the best of gun cleaning kits. It's just one less thing to worry
about if you have health issues.

#5: Gunzilla.
If you have health issues consider Gunzilla non-toxic gun cleaner.
It removes rust, lead, copper, plastic, carbon and cleans corrosive
ammo. Leaves a non-ionic coating for lubrication and protection.
It will be your go-to cleaner because it works very well on all
arms. It has an odor, but more pleasant than some.

Most preppers seem to discover Gunzilla at gun shows. They don't
do much marketing for their product ~ just a demonstration and
preppers are hooked. Pictured immediate right, Gunzilla gets 4.7
of 5 stars.

#6: Hoppe's gun oil and wipes.
Hoppe's is a classic gun oil that's been around since 1903.
Hoppe's Number 9 Lubricating Oil is the household brand you,
your parents, and your parent's parents have used.

  • Hoppe's gun oil. Hoppe's gun oil is ideal for firearms, but
also good for fishing reels and other precision mechanisms.
It's Amazon's choice because this high-viscosity oil is refined
to perfection and is extra-long lasting. It also doesn't
harden, gum or expire. Keep it in your gun cleaning box.

  • Hoppe's Lubricating Gun Oil Field Wipes. Pictured
immediate right, Hoppes lubricating gun oil wipes are perfect
for field application. Extremely convenient and useful oil
wipes for the outside of a firearm or the inside of a firearm,
these wipes drive out moisture, lubricate and prevent rust.
They come packaged in a convenient finger-grip container
and provide outstanding foul weather protection for your
firearms. The only downside with any kind of wipe is that
they will eventually dry out and not be as effective for
lubrication. Use them for cleaning, then use other products
    for lubrication.
